An AEOX® Thunderbolt has a 90mm deep rim and three wide composite spokes, making it the ultimate upgrade for your race bike when there is no choice but to have the fastest wheel.

AERO DATA - THUNDERBOLT FRONT

Shown below is the comprehensive aero testing data on our AEOX® wheel range with 28mm Vittoria & Continental tyres: Thunderbolt, Bolt, Titan & Zephyr.

We have also compared the Thunderbolt & Bolt trispokes against our Titan and Zephyr with different tyre widths: results of which are below. Note that when using a Continental GP5000 TT, the fastest option for the Thunderbolt is a 25mm width. With a Vittoria Corsa Pro Speed a 28mm is the fastest option.

TYRES

AEOX® Thunderbolt wheels are aero optimised to accommodate tyres from different manufacturers without large changes in aero drag. The minimum tyre width for a Thunderbolt trispoke is 25mm, and tyres of >30mm can be accommodated.

USAGE

A Thunderbolt front wheel is the fastest non disc option. Even with a large amount of surface area, a Thunderbolt can be handled in side wind scenarios, however if you live in an extremely windy area or have experienced issues in side winds before, the Bolt trispoke will be a better option.

A rear Thunderbolt can be used instead of a rear disc, with around a 3w penalty at 45kph compared with an AEOX disc wheel. This is best for situations where rear disc wheels are banned - such as in some triathlons.

TUBELESS COMPATIBLE

All AEOX® wheels are compatible with tubeless tyres and kits, and feature hooked rims, allowing the use of normal clincher tyres and inner tubes as well. Please note that tubeless tyres must be set up by a professional cycling mechanic.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Each wheel comes with pre-installed tubeless compatible rim tape, an AEOX® tubeless valve and full instructions.
