PURE SPEED

The AeroCoach AEOX® Solar Ultra carbon tubeless disc builds upon our grand tour and world championship winning Orbit disc with increased stiffness, lower weight (915g for disc brake) and improved aerodynamics. Every Solar Ultra disc is handmade in the UK using custom construction and carbon laminate techniques for the lowest possible weight and the best aerodynamic performance. The patented outer shape of the Solar disc is strengthened by 24 carbon internal spokes laced to a hooked, tubeless rim.

DEVELOPMENT

CFD, wind tunnel and real world optimised, the AEOX® Solar Ultra disc is the most aerodynamic disc wheel available for time trial and triathlon events. The drive side and non drive sides have been correctly shaped to lower aerodynamic drag due to interactions between frames, cassettes and disc brake rotors. The wheel has been designed to work best with a large range of tyre makes, models and sizes: we recommend the use of 25-30mm tyres with AEOX® Solar Ultra discs. This graph shows wind tunnel data comparing the AEOX® Solar disc against a Zipp Super 9, Reserve, Caden, HED Vanquish, Vision Metron SL & a Thunderbolt trispoke rear. All wheels were mounted with a Vittoria Corsa Pro Speed in 28mm. Test speed was 45kph.

TYRE WIDTH

The AEOX® Solar disc is specifically designed to work with a large range of tyre makes/models and sizes up to 30mm, ensuring that you can use your favourite tyre with no aero penalty. The rim is hooked, allowing the use of inner tubes as well as tubeless setups. We recommend 25-30mm tyres with the Solar disc, and a minimum width of 25mm must be used.

INSTALLATION

The AEOX® Solar disc is compatible with Shimano or SRAM 11/12 speed cassettes (please select from the dropdown menu). For tubeless conversions we recommend using Zefal sealant which can be purchased with the wheel. Tubeless tyres must be set up by a professional cycling mechanic. Please note that the use of some aftermarket jockey wheel cages for derailleurs will reduce clearance with the disc sidewalls.

DISC BRAKE

AEOX® Solar Ultra discs are disc brake only, with 6 bolt disc rotor fitting.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Each tubeless wheel comes with pre installed tubeless compatible rim tape, an AEOX® tubeless valve, valve stickers and full instructions.

CUSTOM COLOURS

We can provide custom coloured decals for an additional surcharge. If you would like a custom colour decal with your AEOX® wheel please get in touch!

UCI LEGALITY

The AEOX® Solar disc wheel is compliant with UCI regulations and offical approval pending. AEOX® Disc wheels have been raced and used to win the Tour de France, Giro D'Italia, Vuelta a España and multiple World Championships.
